“If I could tell you my dream for every child in the world, it would be to imagine a world where the cry of every child is met by a loving compassionate adult... one that says, ‘When you cry, I will come.’”
-Dr. Karen Purvis, advocate for children from hard places
In this beautiful description of a nurturing parent, Dr. Purvis puts into words the heart of God: “When you cry, I will come.” (Or, as Isaiah puts it, “you shall cry, and [the Lord] will say, ‘Here I am.’”)
As I think about the journeys of many students, I see this pattern of “crying out” and “God coming”.
“Before 2020 I was doing hard core drugs, my parents were getting a divorce, I was financially unstable and depressed. All I had was a broken family and broken relationships. So I planned everything out...as I went on my drive [to end things], I felt God say ‘Your story isn’t going to end like this.’” -Sean
